Warwickshire County Council Safe Accommodation Strategy for victim-survivors of Domestic Abuse

Free

The Warwickshire Safe Accommodation Strategy is a public policy roadmap designed to ensure that anyone fleeing domestic abuse can instantly access a safe place to stay and rebuild their life. Managed by Warwickshire County Council alongside the police and housing authorities, the strategy bridges the gap between emergency crisis and permanent independent living. Rather than relying on standard housing waiting lists, this system directly funds mobile outreach workers, therapeutic support for children, and inclusive "dispersed accommodation" units. These units are intentionally designed to support people who historically faced barriers in traditional communal refuges—including male survivors, LGBT+ individuals, people with physical disabilities, larger families, and those escaping with pets.
