Independent Advocacy
Free
Independent Advocacy is a registered charity dedicated to reducing social isolation and empowering vulnerable individuals to stand up for their rights and self-esteem. The service is unique because it offers a vital mix of legal voice and financial safekeeping: Professional Advocacy: They provide issue-based, culturally competent advocacy. They step in when a person is ineligible for standard council-funded advocacy, helping them challenge decisions or represent their interests in high-stakes health, social care, or child protection meetings. Money Management & Deputyship: They offer formal money administration for those lacking mental capacity. This includes managing daily expenses, acting as a Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Corporate Appointee, and managing Court of Protection Deputyship cases. Community Connection: They run initiatives like Community Circles to intentionally build supportive networks of friends and volunteers around isolated or highly vulnerable individuals.
