Khair in the community
Khair in the Community is an active voluntary sector organization that operates essential day opportunities and social eating programs out of the Edward Street Community Centre. They provide two distinct primary services to the community: Elderly Day Care: A dedicated day center program running primarily on Mondays for older South Asian women. It focuses on health, wellbeing, and providing a familiar cultural space for elder women to socialize, access peer care, and give full-time relatives or carers a vital respite break. The QwikCurry "Super Kitchen": Partnering with the charity FareShare and Warwickshire's Local Welfare Scheme, they intercept quality surplus supermarket food to run an affordable community kitchen every Tuesday. This initiative is open to everyone in the public, offering a low-cost, freshly cooked sit-in or takeaway meal to tackle local food insecurity and social isolation.
