Healthwatch Coventry is an independent statutory organization (currently delivered by Citizens Advice Mid Mercia) that acts as the official health and social care champion for the public. Instead of acting as an NHS provider that treats illnesses or an independent social club, they function as a regulatory watchdog and public megaphone. They collect real-world feedback—both good and bad—from anyone using local GPs, hospitals, dentists, pharmacies, and care homes. They have legal powers to hold health leaders accountable, perform unannounced quality inspections of local care settings, and force decision-makers to adapt services to fit the actual needs of the community.
