AmbaCare Solutions
Purple Bag
Free
A personalised dementia support and safety preparation initiative that helps people living with dementia and their carers prepare essential information, care instructions, and key documents in advance to improve safety, communication, and continuity of care during emergencies or sudden health changes. It forms part of AMBA’s wider dementia support offer, alongside Dementia Buddies, befriending, and wellbeing services, and is designed to reduce confusion, delays, and distress when someone with dementia comes into contact with health or social care services. The “Purple Bag” approach typically refers to a ready-prepared, clearly identifiable pack or folder system kept at home (or ready to take to hospital) containing important personal and medical information, ensuring professionals can quickly understand the person’s needs, history, communication preferences, and care requirements.
