Dementia Budddies

A volunteer-led befriending and personalised support service for people living with dementia and their carers, offering one-to-one companionship, emotional reassurance, and practical day-to-day support, alongside structured activities designed to reduce loneliness, improve wellbeing, and support independence at home or in the community. The service also includes wider dementia support programmes such as structured social groups, day centre activities, and carer respite services. The Dementia Buddy model is built around trained volunteers or support workers who develop consistent, trusting relationships with individuals living with dementia, helping to provide continuity, safety, stimulation, and emotional connection, while also giving carers time for rest and respite.
